Recipe: Favorite Fudge (Seventeen magazine, 1960's)

Desserts - Candy, Chocolate
FAVORITE FUDGE

2/3 cup (1 can) undiluted evaporated milk
1 1/2 cups sugar
1 (8 to 10 oz.) jar marshmallow cream
1/4 cup butter or margarine
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 (12 oz.) package semisweet chocolate pieces
1 teaspoon vanilla

Combine evaporated milk, sugar, marshmallow cream, butter and salt in a saucepan. Stir ingredients to blend slightly. Bring to a boil over moderate heat, stirring constantly. Continue to stir and boil five minutes. (Mixture will brown lightly.)

Remove from heat. Immediately add semisweet pieces and vanilla. Stir (don't beat) only until chocolate is melted and mixture is shiny. Turn the mixture quickly into buttered 8-inch square or 9-inch round pan, swirling top. Chill.

Cut into squares when firm.

Makes about 2 pounds
