FRESH FRUIT WITH VANILLA SAUCE
8 bananas, peeled and cut into 1/4-inch slices
5 Bartlett pears, stemmed cored, cut into small chunks
sugar
1 quart vanilla ice cream, melted
2 cups pecans, chopped
Combine the banana slices and pear chunks in a large bowl. If necessary, sweeten the fruit with sugar to taste, then toss to combine well. Spoon the fruit into individual serving bowls.
Serve with melted ice cream and with a sprinkling of chopped nuts on top.
