Recipe: Fried Cabbage, Southern Style
Misc.Fried Cabbage, Southern Style
2 T. oil
5 cups coarsely shredded cabbage (as if for slaw)
1 med onion, chopped
1 t. salt
dash nutmeg
1 1/2 t. sugar
cayenne pepper
2 T. vinegar
Heat oil in large skillet. Add cabbage, onion, salt and nutmeg. Cover and cook slowly about 20 minutes. Add sugar and cayenne pepper to vinegar and mix well. Pour over cabbage and cook 5 minutes longer.
Delicious with cornbread.
Serves: 2-3
