Recipe(tried): Frugal Gourmet Cabbage Soup

Soups
I'm in heaven!!! Thank you sooooo much for posting this recipe (Frugal Gourmet Cabbage Soup)! 38 years ago I bought the Frugal Gourmet Cooks With Wine, just after it was released. I followed Jeff Smith on Public Broadcast TV and was terribly saddened by his death in 2004. Since 1984 I have moved many times across the US and I still have this recipe book but it's in one of the gazillion boxes I have stored since my last move in 2001 as I no longer have room for my books. I have searched periodically, especially in the fall, for this recipe and Frugal Gourmet recipes have been impossible to find online without buying the book. After all these years, today I took a chance and voila! I had everything on hand and just made a pot and omg! The only thing this recipe is missing is juniper berries, of which I used 10. But do remove them before serving as they aren't pleasant to bite into. Still, they do make this recipe just as in the book. Also the original recipe calls for Polish sausage so I use Polska Kielbasa. I only had Vermouth so I used it instead of red wine, but the original recipe says to use whatever wine you have on hand. Such an orgasmic combination of ingredients, I recommend leaning against someone when you taste it while cooking during the last few minutes to adjust salt and pepper. My eyes roll back, my knees begin to get rubbery, and I smile with delight, it's that good! Hurray! I found a used copy of the book in Amazon for $5 plus postage so you can bet I ordered it! I just had to wait long enough lol, good things come to those who wait! Bon Apetit!
