Recipe: Fruit Cocktail Fritters (Oster blender recipe, 1950's)

Breads - Assorted
FRUIT COCKTAIL FRITTERS

1 1/2 cups sifted flour
1 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 tablespoon sugar
2 eggs
1/2 cup milk
1 cup well-drained fruit cocktail
Oil for deep frying
Butter or syrup (for serving)

Sift dry ingredients together; set aside.

Put milk and eggs in blender container. Cover, and mix well on Hi. Stop blender and add flour mixture all at once. Run at Hi until flour is just moistened.

Remove container from motor and stir in the well-drained fruit.

Heat fat to 375 degrees F.

Drop batter from a tablespoon into hot fat and fry until golden brown on all sides. Drain.

Serve while hot as a hot bread, with butter or syrup.

Makes about 15 fritters
