Recipe(tried): Garbanzo Soup for A Chilly Night...

Menus
Brrrr Everyone!

It is chilly out there.....I am in a soup mode, full steam ahead. Today I woke up and refreshed the water on the garbanzo beans. I had soaked them overnight and I began the chopping of the onions, peppers and garlic as I watched my morning shows. The soup came out delicious and that is what is on the menu tonight along with a nice hunk of french bread and a glass of merlot. Sitting by the fire reading or watching the telly on a chilly night, what more could you ask for?

I am also going to stay up long enough to see what the hoopla is about in E.R. I haven't watched that show in a loooong time and I understand Dr. Green is leaving the show...I love a good ending to a character.

Here is the recipe to the soup. In my family it is called a "Garbanzada". And it is good....

Garbanzo Soup
serves 6

1 pkg. garbanzos beans
2 chorizos
5 c. water
1 bay leaf
2 smoked ham hocks
3 garlic cloves
1 packet of Sazon Golla with Culantro & achiote
1/2 green bell pepper, chopped
1 med. onion, chopped
2 T. olive oil
3 garlic cloves, minced

Cover the beans with water and let soak overnight. Next day rinse, and put the beans in the pressure cooker with 5 cups water, 3 garlic cloves, 1 bay leaf, 2 ham hocks and the cut up chorizo. Pressure cook on medium for 25 minutes. Make sofrito meanwhile: saute the chopped onion, bell pepper and garlic in oil til onion is golden. Add to soup & stir. Add the seasoning Golla Sazon and stir. Simmer for 25 minutes.
