Recipe: Ginger Balls (cookies) (make ahead)

GINGER BALLS

1 cup brown sugar, packed
1/4 cup Crisco shortening, melted
1 egg
4 tablespoons baking molasses
2 1/2 cups flour
2 teaspoons baking soda
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1 teaspoon ground cloves
1 teaspoon ground ginger
1/4 teaspoon salt
White granulated sugar (for finishing)

Combine brown sugar, shortening, egg, and molasses. Combine dry ingredients and stir into sugar mixture. Chill in refrigerator overnight.

WHEN READY TO BAKE:
Form small balls and roll in sugar. Place on ungreased cookie sheet.

Bake at 350 degree F oven about 7 to 10 minutes.
