GRANITA DI CAFFE
2 cups hot freshly brewed strong coffee
1/2 cup granulated sugar
2 teaspoons vanilla extract
Whipped cream and chocolate curls for garnish (optional)
Stir the hot coffee and the sugar in a medium bowl until the sugar is dissolved. Mix in the vanilla.
Pour the mixture into an 8-inch square pan. Freeze for about 1 1/2 hours or until almost firm.
Using a fork, break up into small pieces. Freeze about 3 hours longer or until firm.
TO SERVE:
Break up into small pieces again with a fork. Spoon into chilled dessert glasses. Garnish with whipped cream and chocolate curls if desired.
