Recipe: Gravy Lovers Buttermilk Biscuits

Breads - Assorted
GRAVY LOVERS BUTTERMILK BISCUITS

1 1/2 cups flour
1 tablespoon baking powder
1/4 teaspoon baking soda
1 tablespoon sugar
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/2 cup butter
1/4 cup buttermilk
1 tablespoon heavy cream

Preheat oven to 400 degrees F. Grease a large baking sheet.

Sift dry ingredients into a large bowl. Cut in butter until mixture resembles rolled oats. Cover and refrigerate 20 minutes.

Make a well in the center of the mixture and add enough buttermilk to hold it together. Stir quickly with your fingers until just combined. Turn mixture onto a lightly floured board and roll into a 3/4-inch thick square. Cut as many biscuits as you can with a biscuit cutter and place on greased baking sheet, about 1 inch apart. Brush the tops of the biscuits with cream.

Bake 13-15 minutes until golden. Serve with fresh butter or sausage gravy.
