Homemade Pork and Beans:
2 cans Great Northern Beans
Water
1/2 onion, chopped
1/2 bell pepper, chopped
1/2 to 1 c. leftover ham, diced
1/2 c. tomato sauce
1 ham bone
Black pepper
Garlic salt
Drain beans, reserving liquid. Add enough water to make 2 cups. Pour into kettle large enough to hold ham bone. Heat liquid, add chopped onion and bell pepper, simmer 15 minutes. Add diced ham, beans, tomato sauce and season to taste. Stir well, add ham bone and simmer 1 to 1 1/2 hours, uncovered. Stir and turn bone every 15 minutes. Cut remaining meat off bone and discard bone. Serves six.
