Recipe: Italian Chocolate Pepper Cookies

ITALIAN CHOCOLATE PEPPER COOKIES

4 cups flour
1 cup sugar
1 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
2 teaspoons baking powder
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1 teaspoon ground nutmeg
1 teaspoon ground black pepper
1/2 teaspoon ground cloves
1/2 teaspoon baking soda
1 cup shortening
1 pint (2 cups) milk

Mix all dry ingredients in large bowl or pan. Make hole in center, add shortening and milk. Mix by hand. It will be very sticky.

Roll or spoon into small balls, size of walnuts.

Bake at 350 to 375 degrees F for 10 to 12 minutes. When cooled dip in chocolate or white frosting.
