Recipe: Italian Easter Donuts / Taralle - Frosting Info and Baking Tips
DessertsADVERTISEMENT
RE: "Easter doughnuts"...or Taralle...
The Calabrese version are called..."Janetti".
Baked for special occasions, weddings, communions, engagements...
The frosting is made with boiled sugar and egg whites. When dry, frosting turns white with sugar making it textured.
Anise is used in cookie sparingly.
After boiling and cooled, score around at least 1/4-inch with a paring knife... When baked the cookie will "blossom" best size... 3-inch diameter, uncooked.
Good Luck,
Uncle Tony
