Italian Zucchini and Squash Casserole

1/2 stick (1/4 cup) butter
1/2 onion, chopped
1/2 cup bell pepper, chopped
1 teaspoon chopped garlic
1 ripe medium size tomato, peeled and chopped
2 zucchini, cubed
2 yellow squash, cubed
salt
red pepper
1/2 teaspoon basil
1/4 cup Italian breadcrumbs
3/4 cup Italian breadcrumbs (for topping)
grated mozzarella and parmesan cheese

In butter saute onion, bell pepper and garlic until tender. Add tomato and zucchini and squash. Add salt and red pepper to taste. Add basil and cook on medium heat uncovered until almost all liquid is cooked out stirring to keep from sticking. Turn off and stir in breadcrumbs and pour into shallow baking dish. Top with remaining crumbs and cheese. Cook at 350 until cheese is melted and slightly brown.
