Recipe(tried): Jack Daniel's Cake (uisng cake mix and butterscotch morsels) - Here is the recipe you requested from the newspaper
Desserts - CakesHi Olivia, i hope this recipe finds you. I was in Houston at a family reunion and couldn't find my recipe for a Jack Daniel's cake from the news paper article that you were talking about and ran across your post. Ironically I found the recipe and decided to send it to you. I hope you still check this post. Here is the Recipe that was posted in the newspaper years ago.
JACK DANIEL'S CAKE
1 (2-layer-size) package yellow cake mix
1 (4-serving size) package instant vanilla pudding mix
5 eggs, slightly beaten
1 1/2 sticks (3/4 cup) margarine, softened
1/2 cup Jack Daniel's or other whiskey
1/4 cup milk
16 ounces butterscotch morsels, divided
1 cup chopped black or regular walnuts, divided
Preheat oven to 350 degrees F. Grease a 13x9x2-inch baking pan.
Sift cake and pudding mixes together. Add eggs, margarine, Jack Daniel's, and milk. Beat long and hard by hand.*
Add 1 cup of the butterscotch morsels and 1/2 cup of the walnuts. Pour batter into a prepared pan and sprinkle remaining morsels and nuts over the batter.
Bake at 350 degrees 45 to 60 minutes.
The bottom of the cake becomes the topping, and it's easy to scoop out the pieces with a spatula.
*If you want to use the electric mixer, don't over beat cake.
