I found these recipes while doing a search. Hope one of these helps. You might also try looking under recipes for whatever nationality your grandmother is.
Virginia
Lithuanian Kugelis (Potato Pudding)
5 lbs. peeled potatoes
1 large onion
4 eggs
Salt and pepper, to taste
2 Tbsp. Bisquick
2 Tbsp. flour
2 c. milk, scalded
2 sticks melted butter
Grate potatoes and onion; drain off liquid. Pour scalded milk over potatoes. Add flour, Bisquick, melted butter, eggs, salt and pepper, mixing well. Pour into 13x9" baking pan. Place in 400 degree oven for 15 minutes. Lower heat to 375 degrees and bake for 45 minutes or until done.
Kugelis
5 lbs. potatoes, peeled and grated (or grind with food processor)
2 medium onions, grated
1 lb. bacon, fried and crumbled (reserve about 1/4 cup drippings)
1 stick of butter, melted
6 eggs
1 large can evaporated milk
4 tsp. salt
Pepper to taste
Peel and grate or grind potatoes and onion. Do not drain.
Fry and crumble bacon; add to potatoes and onions, along with 1/4 cup drippings.
Beat well 6 eggs and add evaporated milk, melted butter, salt and pepper; mix well.
Add egg mixture to potato mixture and mix together. Pour into well-greased 13x9" baking dish (it will barely fit). Bake at 350 degrees for 90 minutes. Slice into squares, and top with sour cream. Serve with applesauce.
