MAPLE SYRUP SPICE CAKE
1 cup maple syrup
3/4 cup shortening
3 eggs
2 cups flour
1 tsp baking soda
1 tsp baking powder
1 tsp ground cinnamon
1/2 tsp ground nutmeg
1/2 tsp ground cloves
1/2 tsp salt
1 cup buttermilk
1 cup raisins
frosting (optional)
Preheat oven to 350 degrees F. Grease and flour an 8x8-inch baking pan.
Cream syrup, shortening, and eggs together.
Mix dry ingredients with buttermilk. Add to creamed mixture and beat until well blended. Stir in raisins. Spread in prepared pan..
Bake for 35 minutes or until done. Frost cooled cake as desired.
