MAPLEY-NUT CHOCOLATE BROWNIES
2 eggs
1 cup sugar
1/2 tsp vanilla
1/2 cup butter or margarine, melted
1/2 cup all-purpose flour, sifted
1/4 tsp baking powder
1/4 tsp salt
1/3 cup chopped nuts
3/4 tsp maple flavoring
1/4 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
powdered sugar (optional)
Preheat oven to 350 degrees F. Grease an 8-inch square pan.
Beat eggs in small mixer bowl, gradually add sugar and vanilla. Blend in melted butter; beat well.
Combine flour, baking powder and salt; add to creamed mixture. Remove 1 cup batter, stir in chopped nuts and maple flavoring. Add cocoa to remaining batter. Blend until combined.
Spoon batters into prepared pan in four alternate rows. Zigzag with rubber spatula or scrape through the batter lightly, being careful not to blend too well.
Bake at 350 degrees F for 30-35 minutes or until brownies begin to pull away from edge of pan. Cool, cut into squares. Sprinkle lightly with powdered sugar if desired.
