Recipe: Fruit Cake Drop Cookies (2)

FRUIT CAKE DROP COOKIES

2 cups brown sugar, packed
1 cup soft shortening
2 eggs
1/2 cup sour milk
2 cups candied fruit
1 cup raisins
1/2 cup broken pecans
3 1/2 cups flour
1 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. salt

Mix sugar, shortening, and eggs. Stir in sour milk, candied fruit, raisins, and nuts. Combine flour, baking soda, and salt and stir into sugar mixture. Chill 1 hour.

Preheat oven to 400 degrees.

Drop cookie dough onto lightly greased cookie sheet.

Bake 8 to 10 minutes or until almost no imprint remains when touched lightly.

FRUIT CAKE COOKIES

2 1/2 cups sifted all-purpose flour
1 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. cinnamon
1 tsp. salt
1 1/2 cups sugar
1 cup butter, softened
2 eggs
1/2 lb. candied mixed fruit (1 1/2 cups), cut in small pieces
1/2 lb. chopped pecans

Preheat oven to 350 degrees F. Lightly grease cookie sheets.

Sift together flour, baking soda, cinnamon, and salt.

Mix together sugar, butter, and eggs. Add dry ingredients, nuts and fruit. Drop by spoonfuls onto prepared cookie sheets.

Bake at 350 degrees for 10 minutes.
