Recipe: Mary's Cabbage Salad (with sweet and sour dressing)

Salads - Assorted
MARY'S CABBAGE SALAD

"Good made the day before to marinate."

For the marinade:
3/4 cup sugar
1/2 cup vinegar
1/4 cup vegetable oil
1/2 tsp. salt
For the salad:
4 cups shredded cabbage
1 small onion, chopped
1/2 cup chopped celery
Grated carrot (optional)
Chopped green bell pepper

Combine the ingredients for the marinade; stir to dissolve sugar.

Mix the marinade with the remaining ingredients. Chill at least 4 hours or overnight.

NOTE: If you double the recipe for a crowd of 18-20, I recommend you do not double the marinade.

Make about 10 servings
