Recipe: Mincemeat Nut Bread (using nut bread mix) (1970's)

MINCEMEAT NUT BREAD

1 cup prepared mincemeat (plain or brandied)
1 egg
1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
3 tablespoons honey
1/4 cup water
1 (1 pound 1 ounce) package nut bread mix

Heat oven to 350 degrees F (moderate).

Combine mincemeat and egg in large bowl; blend thoroughly. Stir in cinnamon, honey and water. Add nut bread mix. Stir until blended. Pour into well-greased 9x5x3- inch loaf pan.

Bake 50 to 60 minutes or until wooden pick inserted in center comes out clean. Cool in pan 10 minutes. Remove from pan and continue cooling on wire rack.

Bread slices thinner if stored overnight or frozen.

Makes 1 loaf
