Mozzarella Sticks

Cheese Sticks
4 cups Bread crumbs, or 4 cups Rice Krispies cereal, crushed to 1 cup.
1/2 tsp. garlic salt
1/2 tsp oregano
1/4 cup flour
2 egg whites
2 tbsp. water
8 oz mozzarella cheese
vegetable cooking spray
Combine Bread crumbs, garlic salt, and oregano in shallow pan or plate. Place flour in second shallow pan or plate. Beat egg whites and water with fork until thoroughly combined. Cut cheese into 16 sticks approx. 2 3/4 inches long. Dip cheese in flour, then in egg white mixture, draining slightly. Coat with cereal mixture. Carefully repeat dipping in egg white mixture and cereal mixture to double coat completely. Place on foil-lined shallow baking pan coated with cooking spray. Coat remaining cheese using same method. Bake at 400F about 8 minutes or until lightly browned and cheese starts to melt. Serve hot with warm pizza sauce, if desired.

Makes 24 stix
1 pound mozzarella cheese, cut into stix
3 eggs, beaten
1/2 cup flour
3/4 cup Italian seasoned bread crumbs
vegetable oil (for frying)
Italian tomato sauce (for dipping)
Dip the cheese stix in egg, roll in flour, and dip in egg again. Dip into bread crumbs. Place on waxed paper and chill 1 hour. In a large saucepan or Dutch oven, heat oil to 375 F. Fry chilled cheese sticks in hot oil. Drain on paper towels. Serve with heated Italian tomato sauce as dip.
