Recipe(tried): MY LASAGNA

Main Dishes - Pasta, Sauces

Here is my lasagna dish that I make frequently. It is quite economical and very tasty. Plus, it goes a long way and it freezes well. Best of all, you do not have to boil the noodles! :)

Jean's Lasagna

1 lb hamburger
1 28 oz jar spaghetti sauce
1 box lasagna noodles
1 12 0z tub fat free cottage cheese
1 12 0z tub lowfat sour cream
3/4 lb mozzarella cheese, shredded
1/2 cup water

Brown hamburger and drain. Add the spaghetti sauce, stir. Set aside. Mix the sour cream and cottage cheese together in a bowl. Shred the cheese.

Start layering in a 13 x 9 baking dish. Spread half the meat and sauce mixture over the bottom of the dish. Top with a layer of uncooked noodles. Spread half the cottage cheese/sour cream over the noodles, then top that with half the mozzarella. Start over again with remaining meat on top of the cheese, then noodles, cottage cheese/sour cream, then mozzarella. Add a half cup of water and let sit in the fridge a few hours to overnight, covered.

Bake at 350 for 1 hour covered with aluminum foil. Remove foil and bake an additional 15 minute until the top is nicely browned. Allow to sit 10 minutes or so before cutting and serving.

Makes 8 generous pieces of lasagna.

Note that this is a basic recipe. I like to add lots of garlic, Italian seasoning, mushrooms, crushed red pepper, romano cheese...let your imagination run wild! This is easy and tasty...best of all, you can make it really inexpensive and it's guaranteed to impress!

Good luck to Sarah! I was there once too! :)
