Recipe(tried): My most successful football party . . .

Misc.

was a college game. My husband told me later that I could never invite one couple back for that particular match-up. (His team lost, the lady was the fan for the other team. She happened to be sitting by my husband and nearly pounded him to death everytime her team scored, which was often.)

Our menu was very simple but hearty. I made vegetable beef soup in the crockpot, one guest brought homemade pimento cheese sandwiches, another guest brought chips and dip, another brought cookies. The key was to have plenty of it. Everyone enjoyed it very much (except my husband).

Another menu suggestion: Chili with Beans served with grated cheese, shredded lettuce and corn chips; cookies or brownies for dessert.

CHILI WITH BEANS

2 lbs. ground chuck
2 large onions, chopped
1 lb. dried red kidney beans (cooked, or use equivalent in canned beans)
1 lb. can crushed tomatoes
1-2 Tbsp. chili powder ( or to taste)
salt and pepper to taste

Brown ground beef, add onions. Cook just until onions are translucent. Add beans, tomatoes, spices and heat through. Makes about 8 hearty servings.
