Recipe: Nestle's Double Chocolate Brownies

NESTLE'S DOUBLE CHOCOLATE BROWNIES

3/4 cup unsifted flour
1/4 tsp. baking soda
1/4 tsp. salt
1/3 cup butter
3/4 cup sugar
2 tbsp. water
1 (12 oz.) pkg (2 cups) Nestle semi-sweet chocolate morsels, divided use
1 tsp. vanilla
2 eggs
1/2 cup chopped nuts

Preheat oven to 325 degrees F. Grease a 9-inch baking pan.

In small bowl combine flour, baking soda and salt, set aside.

In a small saucepan combine butter, sugar and 2 tablespoons water. Bring JUST TO A BOIL, then remove from heat. Add 6 ounces (1 cup) morsels and vanilla. Stir until morsels melt and mixture is smooth.

Transfer chocolate mixture to a large bowl. Add eggs, one at a time, beating well after each addition. Gradually blend in flour mixture.

Stir in remaining 1 cup of morsels and nuts. Spread into prepared baking pan.

Bake 30 to 35 minutes. Cool completely. Cut into 2 1/4-inch squares.

Makes 16 brownies
