NIFTY NUTTY BURGERS
"Nut burgers are a delicious alternative to meat patties. Although they take a little longer to prepare, virtually everyone will agree the results are worth it."
COMBINE:
1/2 cup chunky peanut butter
1/2 cup ground sunflower seeds
1/2 cup whole sunflower seeds
1 1/4 cups chopped nuts of your choice
1 cup bread cubes or crumbs
1 stalk celery
1/2 cup chopped onion
1/2 cup chopped parsley
1 tablespoon Bragg's Liquid Aminos (or Tamari Sauce)
1 teaspoon chili powder
1 teaspoon garlic powder
1 teaspoon onion powder
Egg replacer for one egg (optional)
Add some water, a little at a time until mixture if of consistency to form patties. Let stand 10 minutes.
Fry in small amount of olive oil until golden. Drain well. Refrigerate or serve on roll with sprouts and mayonnaise. Add any additional seasonings you like.
Like most of the recipes in this book, nut burgers lend themselves to experimentation. Try various seasonings, nuts and seeds and create your own version.
