CHOCOLATE SHEET CAKE (BROWNIES)
Sift:
2 cups flour
1/4 tsp. salt
In saucepan, melt together:
(Amount of sugar for recipe is missing)
1/2 cup Crisco
4 tbsp. cocoa
1 cup water
Bring to a boil and pour over flour mixture in bowl. Beat until smooth.
Add:
1 tsp. soda
1 tsp. vanilla
1/2 cup buttermilk
Beat until smooth, about 3 minutes.
Bake on greased and floured jelly roll pan at 350 degrees.
A few minutes before taking from the oven, boil together:
4 tablespoons oleo
4 tablespoons cocoa
4 tablespoons water
Remove from stove and add 3 cups powdered sugar and beat until smooth. Spread over cake while hot.
BABY RUTH CANDY BROWNIES
2/3 cup margarine
1 cup brown sugar
1/4 cup light corn syrup
1/4 cup smooth peanut butter
1 tsp. vanilla
1 cup quick oatmeal
TOPPING:
1 (12 oz.) pkg. chocolate chips
1 (6 oz.) pkg. butterscotch chips
2/3 cup smooth peanut butter
1 cup salted Spanish peanuts
Combine margarine, sugar and syrup in saucepan. Stir over low heat until margarine melts and sugar dissolves. Add peanut butter and vanilla. Pour over the oatmeal; mix well. Press into a greased 13x9-inch pan and bake at 375
degrees for 12 minutes. Melt the chocolate and butterscotch bits. Add peanut butter and peanuts. Pour over baked mixture. Cool and cut into squares.
CANDY BROWNIES
1/2 cup butter
1 1/2 cups graham cracker crumbs
1 can sweetened condensed milk
1 cup coconut
12 oz. bag chocolate chips
12 oz. bag butterscotch chips
Optional:
1 cup chopped nuts (walnuts, pecans)
In 11x13 inch pan, melt a stick of butter. Sprinkle graham cracker crumbs over melted butter. Pour condensed milk over this mixture.
Place on top: Coconut, chocolate chips, butterscotch chips and nuts. Mash down with hands. Bake at 350 degrees for 25 minutes.
BROWNIES SUPREME
1/2 cup butter
1 cup sugar
1 can Hershey's chocolate syrup
1 cup flour
1 tsp. vanilla
1/2 cup nuts
FROSTING:
6 tbsp. butter
6 tbsp. milk
1 1/3 cups sugar
1/2 cup chocolate chips
Combine all brownie ingredients and bake in jelly roll pan at 350 degrees for 35 minutes. For frosting, boil together the butter, milk and sugar for two minutes. Remove from heat and add chocolate chips. Beat until right consistency.
Frost brownies.
1-2-3 BROWNIES
3/4 cup all-purpose flour
2 tbsp. cocoa, unsweetened
1/2 tsp. baking soda
2 tbsp. plus 2 tsp. vegetable oil
1 tsp. vanilla extract
1 tsp. chocolate extract
1/2 tsp. imitation butter flavor
1 tbsp. plain lowfat yogurt
1/4 cup plus 2 tbsp. cold water
1/4 cup plus 1 tbsp. sugar*
*(Or sweetener equivalent to 15 teaspoons sugar).
Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
In a medium bowl, combine dry ingredients, mixing until blended. With a spoon, make a well in the center. In a small bowl, combine remaining ingredients, mixing with a spoon. Pour into a well in dry mixture. Stir until all ingredients are moistened.
Place batter in a 4 x 8 inch nonstick loaf pan or one that has been sprayed with a nonstick cooking spray. Bake 15 minutes. Cool in pan on wire rack. Makes 8 servings.
FOOLED YOU! BROWNIES!
2 1/3 cups whole wheat flour
1 cup water
1/2 cup margarine
2/3 cup carob powder
1 heaping tbsp. grain coffee
2 cups Fruit source OR 1 1/2 cups honey or maple syrup
1 tsp. vanilla
1/2 tsp. salt
2 1/2 tsp. baking powder
Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
Mix 1/3 cup flour with 1 cup water. Cook until thick and cool completely.
Melt margarine and add carob powder and grain coffee. Whisk mixture thoroughly to avoid lumping.
Beat together sweetener, flour and water mixture, and vanilla. Add to carob mixture.
Combine remaining 2 cups flour, salt, and baking powder. Add to above ingredients.
Bake in a 10 inch square oiled pan for 35 minutes. Delicious and moist!

1/2 tsp. vinegar
1/2 tsp. vanilla
3 tbsp. oil
1/2 cup lukewarm water
1 tbsp. chopped nuts
Place dry ingredients in bowl. Add remaining ingredients and mix well. Pour into 9 inch square pan. Sprinkle with nuts. Bake 15 to 20 minutes at 350 degrees. 16 bars - 56 calories per bar.
