Recipe: Oatmeal Treats

Oatmeal Treats

1 c. quick cooking oats
1 1/4 c. boiling water
1/2 c. oleo, softened
1 c. sugar
2 eggs
1 tsp. vanilla
1 1/2 c. flour
1 c. brown sugar
1 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. salt

Combine oats and boiling water, let stand for 20 minutes. Cream together butter and sugar. Add prepared oatmeal. Stir in eggs and vanilla. Blend in butter, sugar, baking soda and salt. Spread in greased 15 x 10 x 1 inch jelly roll pan. Bake at 350 degrees for 20 minutes or until set.

FROSTING:
6 tbsp. oleo
1/4 c. evaporated milk
1 c. brown sugar
1/2 c. coconut

In small saucepan combine oleo, evaporated milk, brown sugar and coconut. Bring to boil, stirring constantly, boil, stirring for 1 minute. Spread over warm bars.
