Recipe(tried): old fashioned fudge

Misc.
Mother's Fudge Recipe from the 1940s:

2 squares unsweetened chocolate - cut into pieces
2 cups sugar
3/4 cup milk
1/4 cup butter
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon vanilla
1/2 cup coarsly chopped nuts - black walnuts are THE best

Combine chocoalte, sugar, milk, butter & salt in a medium sauce pan. Bring to a rolling boil stirring constantly. Continue to boil until a small amount forms a soft ball in cold water.

Add vanilla and nuts.

Beat vigorously in sauce pan until mixture will hold its shape - about 2 or 3 minutes - and mixture will look glossy.

Pout immediately into a buttered pan/pyrex container. Makes 30 one inch pieces.
