Recipe: Pie Crust Cookies (using cinnamon and nutmeg)

PIE CRUST COOKIES

1/2 cup margarine or butter
1/2 cup vegetable shortening
5 cups flour
1 teaspoon salt
2 eggs, beaten
2 cups granulated sugar
1 cup milk
1 teaspoon ground nutmeg
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1 tablespoon vanilla
Confectioners' sugar

Preheat oven to 350 degrees F.

Put margarine, shortening, flour and salt into a large bowl. Using a pastry blender, cut as you would pie pastry until mixture resembles crumbs the size of peas.

Make a well in the middle of the crumbs and add eggs, granulated sugar, milk, nutmeg, cinnamon and vanilla. Mix well.

Using a rolling pin, roll dough to 1/8-inch thickness. Cut into shapes.

Bake at 350 degrees F for 10-15 minutes.

Dust with confectioners' sugar.
