Recipe: re: two cans of apple pie filling -- Try this!

Desserts - Pies and Tarts

Here's a couple of creative (!) ideas for you:

1. Apple-praline crisp: pour apples into a baking dish; meanwhile, combine sugar, butter, a touch of vanilla on stove top until begins to carmelize. Remove from heat, stirring in chopped nuts (almonds or pecans) and oats. Bake as for apple crisp (maybe less 25 degrees or so) and watch carefully, removing when heated through.

2. Chocolate toffee apple triffle: Combine a tub of whipped topping (or fresh whipped -- and sweetened cream) with Hershey's Dark Chocolate syrup. Layer sliced poundcake, apple pie filling, chocolate-cream mixture, sprinkle with Skor toffee bits. Repeat, making at least one more set of layers as above. Finish with a dolop of chocolate cream in the middle and maybe some thinly sliced poundcake cut out with cookie cutters.
