Refrigerator Pickles
3 English cucumbers, sliced 1/4" thick
1 large onion, sliced
1 1/2 teaspoons celery seed
1 1/2 teaspoons mustard seed
1 1/2 teaspoons turmeric
4 cups sugar
1/4 cup salt
4 cups cider vinegar
Slice cucumbers and onions into a gallon glass jar with a screw top lid. Add celery seed, mustard seed and turmeric. Then add sugar, salt and cider vinegar.
Put lid on and shake well. Put in the refrigerator. Shake once a day for 5 days in a row. They are ready to eat after that. They keep for months.
