Someone made a request for these wonderful muffins about a month ago. I finally found the recipe. Enjoy!
Silver Grille Muffins
(makes 2 1/2 dozen)
2/3 cup shortening
1 cup sugar
2 egg yolks
4 cups unsifted all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon salt (or less)
2 tablespoons baking powder
2 cups milk
2 egg whites beaten
Beat together the shortening with the sugar and egg yolks until creamy. Combine flour, salt and baking powder and add to the shortening mixture alternately with milk to just moisten the batter.
Gently fold in beaten egg whites. Divide batter among well-greased muffin pans. Bake at 400 degrees for 20 minutes
