Recipe(tried): Skillet Candied Yams

Hi Nita, These are so good!Hope you enjoy them!They are better than candy....

SKILLET CANDIED YAMS

1/3 cup REAL butter
2/3 cup light brown sugar,packed
6 medium-sized uncooked sweet potatoes, pared and sliced horizontally, then cut into serving size pieces
1/3 cup water
1/2 tsp. vanilla
1/2 tsp. salt
2 light pinches cinnamon

In a heavy frying pan or cast iron skillet, heat together butter and brown sugar over medium temperature until melted and blended.

Add the sliced uncooked sweet potatoes and turn until coated in the syrup and brown.

Add water, vanilla, salt and cinnamon; cover, turn down heat and cook slowly until potatoes are tender.
