Recipe(tried): Skor candy bar (original name Heath Bar)

Skor candy bar (originaly was called Heath bar years ago) It is a candy bar with a crunchy butter toffee layer coated with chocolate.

Skor candy bar (Heath bar)

1 pound butter
2 cups sugar
1 (12-oz) bag of semi sweet chocolaye chips
3/4 cup of finely chopped walnuts (optional)

Line a 15X10X1 inch pan or cookie sheet with foil.
Melt the butter in a saucepan over low heat.
Add the sugar.
Stir until pale color and candy thermometer reaches 300 degrees.
Remove from the heat and pour into a foil lined pan.
Cool 5 minutes.
Scatter the chocolate chips over the candy. Let stand for five minutes then spread the chips over the entire surface.
Sprinkle with the finely chopped nuts (optional). Cool until firm. Break into pieces.

note: After you spread the chocolate chips over the candy score it with a sharp knife. When you break the candy the chocolate will not fly off of it.
