We have been making slippery jacks since 50s. Cukes are better when large and yellow.
SLIPPERY JACK PICKLES
9 cucumbers
2 large onions, sliced
1/4 cup salt
Cut cukes in slivers, put salt on soak overnight.
Drain and wash.
Boil:
2 cups sugar
1 tbsp celery seed
1 1/4 tbsp corn starch
3/4 tbsp tumeric
3/4 tsp curry
1/2 tsp dry mustard
2 cups water
for 5 minutes.
Pour over cucumbers. Refrigerate.
