Recipe: Spiced Viennese Coffee (Maxwell House recipe, 1951)

SPICED VIENNESE COFFEE6 tablespoons Instant Maxwell House Coffee
15 whole cloves
1 (5 inch) stick cinnamon
7 cups boiling water
1/2 cup sugar
FOR SERVING:
Whipped cream
Ground cinnamon
Combine Instant Maxwell House, cloves, cinnamon stick, and water in a saucepan. Bring to a boil. Remove from heat, cover, and let stand 5 to 8 minutes. Then strain through a cheesecloth.
Add sugar and stir until sugar is dissolved.
Garnish each serving with whipped cream and sprinkle with a dash of ground cinnamon. Serve at once.
Makes 6 to 8 servings
