Recipe: Strawberry Cream Cheese Pie with Peach Variation (Dream Whip, 1968)

Desserts - Pies and Tarts
STRAWBERRY CREAM CHEESE PIE

1 (8 oz.) package cream cheese
1/2 cup sugar
1 envelope Dream Whip Whipped Topping Mix*
1 baked (10-inch) crumb crust or pie shell, cooled
1 (3 oz.) package Jell-0 Strawberry Gelatin
1 cup boiling water
2 cups strawberries, halved and sweetened

Whip cheese until soft; beat in sugar.

Prepare Dream Whip as directed on package; blend into cheese. Spoon into crust, mounding high at sides.

Dissolve gelatin in boiling water. Drain strawberries, measuring syrup; add cold water to make 1/2 cup liquid, if necessary. Add syrup to gelatin.

Chill until thickened; then stir in strawberries.

Spoon into crust without covering the cheese filling around edge. Chill until set - 3 hours or longer.

VARIATION:

PEACH CREAM CHEESE PIE:
Prepare as for Strawberry Cream Cheese Pie, substituting 1 1/2 cups sliced peaches, sweetened, for the strawberries and adding cold water to the syrup drained from peaches to make 3/4 cup liquid. If desired, use Jell-C Orange Gelatin instead of strawberry.

*Each envelope of Dream Whip, prepared as directed on package, makes about 2 cups of whipped topping.
