Recipe: Sweet Dill Pickles

Preserving - Pickles, Relishes

Here's an Amish recipe, not sure if it is the one you are searching.

use medium sized fresh unpeeled pickles sliced about 1/2 inch thick. use enough to fill 4 quart jars. add a large head dill and a few onions to each jar. bring to a boil: 4 c sugar
2 c water
1/2 c salt
1 qt. vinegar

pour over pickles. screw lids on firmly. set aside to seal. store in a cool place. For best flavor do not use for 30 days.

I've never made these and am not sure what 'set aside to seal' means, that's just the way it is in the book. Hope that helps.
