Recipe(tried): Tips for cooking Pasta

Tips and Tricks - Cooking
Donovan~here are some tips on cooking pasta so your sauce will stick to the pasta. Hope this helps.

Use plenty of water in a large pot. About 4 quarts water per pound of pasta is ideal.

Cover the pot and bring to a boil over high heat. Note: If you are cooking more than 1 pound of pasta, it's best to use two pots.

Once boiling, add salt, if desired. We recommend about 1/2 teaspoon per quart of water.

Add pasta and stir immediately to prevent sticking. Bring back to a boil, uncovered.

Start timing when the water returns to a boil, following package directions for cook times.

Stir pasta occasionally while cooking, and keep water at a constant boil.

There is no need to add oil to pasta while cooking. The best way to prevent pasta from sticking together is to use lots of water, cook at a constant boil, and stir occasionally.

Test pasta for doneness near the end of the cook time. Remove a piece and bite it. Pasta is ready to eat when the texture is to your liking. Some of us like firm pasta (al dente) some prefer it more soft.

Place a large colander in the sink; pour pasta into the colander to drain.

There is no need to rinse cooked pasta. If you do, the sauce won't cling to it.

Rinse pasta only if it will be used for a salad or will be set aside or stored for later use
