Recipe(tried): Trey Yuen Tong Cho (copycat recipe)

Ok.... I adore trey yuen, well I used to, so I cracked the code on this one. It's pretty close.

TREY YUEN TONG CHO

1/2 bunch green onions, chopped
1 tbsp minced fresh garlic
1 tbsp minced ginger root
1 tsp vegetable oil
1 tsp sesame oil
1/2 cup water
1/2 cup cane vinegar
1/4 cup brown sugar
1 tbsp soy sauce
1 tsp simbal oleak
CORN STARCH SLURRY:
2 tbsp corn starch
2 tbsp water

Quickly saute green onion, garlic and ginger in the vegetable oil and sesame oi.

Add 1/2 cup water, vinegar, brown sugar, soy sauce and simbal. Thicken (over heat) with slurry.

Now to make the dish you do a basic batter which is:

1/2 cup corn starch
2 tbsp flour
2 egg whites
1 tbsp baking powder
1 tbsp soy sauce
Oil (for frying)
Julienne sliced onion
Julienne sliced bell peppers

Coat chicken or shrimp with batter. Deep fry until golden.

Make sure to separate, then stir fry with julienne onion and bell peppers. Toss in the sauce.
