ISO: Help! Need strawberry cake filling for an outdoor cake

I am in desperate need of a strawberry filling, preferably with sliced strawberries for a cake filling. The problem is the cake will be in a park but under shade. Will need a recipe for a filling that will not spoil. Note: The cake will be covered in buttercream (1/2 shortening and 1/2 butter - got OK, and buttercream does not have to be refrigerated, but I'm concerned about the strawberry filling. Please help! Any ideas or recipes will be greatly appreciated.
