ISO: Homemade Iced Java Coffee Syrup - question

I tried your recipe and all went well until I added the instant Coffee, I could not get them to dissolve, it left big globs of the coffee! Do you suppose I could add the coffee with the cocoa, sugar and water and it would work as well? I sure would appreciate any suggestions!
