ISO: Norwegian Dumpling

My friend said, Her mother made dumplings ,She would tear up whole wheat bread and fry in butter add some flour and egg and make a dough, drop in boiling water, cook and add to vegetable soup.
With all the good cooks out there, Hope someone has the recipe.
