ISO: Questions about Poppy seeds in Slovak Poppy Seed rolls

Would you help me. My mother used to make Slovak Poppy Seed and Nut Rolls and I have made them also.
My question is got a poppy seed grinder as a Xmas gift and I can't remember how my mom prepared the poppy seeds with her grinder. She is gone now and I want to make the rolls.
I would be so grateful if someone would give me a detail on preparing and soaking the poppy seeds to a paste. My sincere thanks - my family is just waiting!!! Helen
