ISO: Re: ISO: HOW TO COOK AN ARTICHOKE

I agree with the previous to a point. I trim lower outer leaves, cut stem even with base of artichoke, and stand them upright submerged about 3/4 of their height in water and boil unti a leaf gives way when I pull on it - usually about 45 minutes for a good sized choke. Serve mine with either drawn butter favored with a bit of garlic, or just good old mayonaisse.
