ISO: Salty Pickles

Misc.
When I was younger..My Grandma always made salty pickles.
She would put them in this big crock, mix up some kind of Salty brian (spelled wrong) pour over them and then cover the top of the crock with a cloth, carry this down to the basement and this would work (as she called it) and in a month or more we would take the cover off and they were the best pickles I ever ate. So crisp and salty!!!
Now...she is gone and my Mom has tried to make these pickles a dozen times and it never works out.
It's that time again to make pickles and she is wishing she had Grandmas recipe (course, Grandma never wrote down a thing). Does anyone out there have this type of recipe or even heard of this type of canning pickles??
Your replies would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you so much!!
