Thank You: re: Memories from my Dad

Misc.
Alan.

Thanks for the reply! I know from my dad and all the others from Helms that I was fortunate to meet later in life, it was a great place to work. In the 1980's, my dad had opened a donut shop in Hawthorne and it was amazing how many of the guys he had worked with game in from time to time.

Last week, my nephew came to me and asked me if I knew where my dad (his grampa) had kept the recipes for some of his specialty donuts. I hated to tell him that dad had the recipes in his head. When I asked him why, he tells me when he finishes college he wants to open a donut shop...go figure!

I know most of dad's success was something he had learned from one of his mentors, Tom Clark. The most important aspect for success was... only use the highest quality ingredients. Seems Mr. Helms followed that same philosophy!

Thanks again Alan and tell your dad thanks for the cakes and cookies...they were the best!
