Luis and I love garage sales, too. Over the years, we have found the most amazing things.

Another place my DH has a weakness for (if not an addiction, LOL) is the recycling depot. While it's true he does come home with some rather bulky items, just yesterday, he ran into a former neighbour who came right up to him and said, "do you want a skylight, I'm doing a reno, and this one is in perfect condition. It just needs washing."

A couple of weeks ago, DH put a new roof on the house. Now he is into the finishing touches; flashing, evestroughs, and guess what...we need a new skylight, but had just not picked one up at the store yet.

How's about that for timing?

I just love your garage sale finds. You're a woman after my own heart! Another thing I can never resist are the cookbooks. For a quarter, oftentimes, you can pick up the most wonderful books. Just the other week, a woman having a sale had out a copy of the Silver Palate Cookbook. Long story short, I talked her into keeping it! Can you believe someone would sell that wonderful book?! Altho I should have picked it up myself, my copy is getting to be quite ratty!

Darling, please tell me, is jiffy cornbread a brand? I always use the Moosewood (another old ratty copy, much used and dearly loved) cookbook cornbread recipe, except I add some chopped jalapeno. But I bet it would be better in your spiffy new-to-you skillet!
