2-story house

When we retired and moved to another state about 3 years ago - we looked for a ranch. Or a 2-story with master bedroom on first floor.

We had sold our other house VERY QUICKLY (while some others around us were for sale for well over 6 - 8 months) so we had not done that much looking when we got a very good offer.

Not wanting to go to an apartment or condo while we waited for the house we wanted - or built one, we settled on a nice 2-story (we were 65) and we're still pleased with it.

If the house has a bath on both floors, I'd be for it if it fits your needs, budget, etc. The reason for the bath -- is IF necessary, you can always make a dining room or something into a temporary bedroom. Hopefully we won't have to do this.

I've lived in a lot of 2 story houses and a couple of splits. I'd never buy another split.

One of the 'tricks' we've learned with 2 story is that you can limit trips up and down. Those baskets by the stairs are wonderful. I just put things there and when one of us goes up (or down) we carry up the towels, or clothes or whatever. the sticky notes are good too -- I'll write something on one and put it on the top (or bottom) bannister - so that I'll see it when going up or down!
