Did one a few years back for my inlaws.
Peanuts, midget sweet pickles, hand pressed shaped mints, cheese/sausage balls,
vegetable tray with: celery, cauliflour, broccoli, radishes, cherry tomatoes,
carrots, dips- onion or speciality (used thousand island with bacon; added mayo
to thicken),date nut rolls (sliced), Golden punch, cheese balls, various
crackers (shapes, grains), stuffed celery (pimento cheese, ham or chicken
salad), ribbon sandwiches, stuffed cream puffs. And of course the cake!
The mints can be made ahead and so can the cheese/sausage balls (can be frozen).
You can do an Italian/vinegar marinate for the vegetables. Marinate the
cauliflour, broccoli -separate the radishes and carrots
(will bleed), do NOT marinate celery (absorbs vinegar).Have little thank you notes rolled up and tied with gold cord placed in small
gold basket with ribbon.
Use deep yellow roses or flowers, gold trim.
Ask friends to bring a memory page to place in a "Rememberance Book."
Have camera that does pictures here and now. Take pictures and post.
Get a large poster picture of couple and let friends "sign" it as you would a
year book!
